Overcome that Fear of Flying Now
Imagine being able to book a flight happily and comfortably, excitedly travel to the airport, board your flight with calm ease, sit back in tranquil relaxation to enjoy a wonderful getaway.
You want to fly away, visit family and friends, holiday in exotic destinations – yet the paralysing fear of the thought of flying keeps you firmly grounded.
You may have read considerable information on how the fear is totally irrational. Logic tells you that you are safe with all the modern technology on planes now, yet, that phobic fear remains, preventing you from travelling away; until now.
Anxiety is the intense fear of something that may occur in the future that is unlikely to ever happen. A phobia or irrational fear is a form of anxiety. So why do we continue to have this uncomfortable and annoying fear anxiety? And what can you do to overcome this extreme fear?
Your mind created this fear; therefore, your mind is also capable of eliminating it.
Based on what we know through science and research, a flying phobia can be eliminated or significantly reduced within a very short time, providing the person wants to remove it.
You may ask, surely everyone wants that, to be free to fly anywhere at any time, right? Not necessarily. Some of us simply do not wish to travel to exotic places. Home is where we want to remain. Others say they want to visit family abroad, really?? I know plenty of people saying that, but the reality is, they really do not. This is what we refer to as secondary gain. I will remain in my stuck state because it really suits me. These people will continue holding onto their fear, so be it.
Those who genuinely wish to move past this phobic fear are ready to do almost anything. They are often:
- Plagued with guilt,
- Feel shame
- Think of themselves as ridiculous when others seem happy and excited to fly
- You feel stuck.
Help is at hand.
So, what is this fear and panic? The first thing most of us humans need is to understand what is going on within our bodies. Once we understand the fear, it can be alleviated.
Fear, or panic, is usually derived from an initial sensitizing event (ISE). This means something sometime in the past has initially created this fear. After all, we were not born scared of flying. We became that way through an event, stories, or imagination. Then it set itself within our mind as real. When we think of flying as an adult, we go directly to the age of this ISE. Therefore, if you were 6 years old, or 10 or 15, we relate the emotions directly to that age whenever the initial issue occurred. Even if we are now grown, mature adults. It’s just what our brain does, thinking it is protecting us. The body has formed a response pattern where flying became associated with anxiety.
When this fear or phobic anxiety hits you:
- Adrenaline is released within the body to place you into a fight or flight mode to protect you.
- Your heart rate increases
- Blood pressure rises
- You become hot, twitchy, sweaty, and
- Your mind races with negative thoughts of what if, and all you want it to do is make it stop!
You can alleviate this adrenaline release or panic attack as they are referred by:
- either pop on your joggers and do a fast 400m run,
- you can do some star jumps and bur-pees,
- do anything physical to use up the adrenaline and get you breathing deeply.
because oxygen dissipates adrenaline. However, we need to turn off that adrenaline release, so I suggest
Take Steps to annihilate that Panic Attack:
- you stop,
- take a few very slow deep breaths
- on the exhale, you open your eyes, look around, thank the adrenaline rush for helping or protecting you (as this is what the body thinks it is doing, fight or flee),
- tell yourself as you look around, “I am safe, thank you, I am safe”.
This switches off the adrenaline to calm and relax the body to return to normal again. Easy, you get control back.

They remain stuck in their fear. People who are fearing the thought of flying, listen to the session, and feel excited and as they book their airline tickets. They then jump on the plane and take off flying happy and comfortably to their desired destination.
The Fear of Flying session, available from Virtual Hypnotherapy, is a double session that:
- Relaxes you as I speak to your subconscious mind that held this anxiety fear to enable it to release and feel happy, relaxed, and excited about flying. This is listened to before you even book your trip or just after you book it.
- A second downloadable session to listen to on the plane lets you fly with calm, relaxed ease and excitement.
