A Phobia, an extreme, irrational fear of a specific thing or situation. A phobia is classified as a type of anxiety disorder since anxiety is the chief symptom experienced by the sufferer.
Causes of phobias.
Many phobias develop during childhood, adolescence or early adulthood. They are often linked to a frightening event or stressful situation.
If you have a phobia, you may experience a profound sense of dread or panic when you encounter the source of your fear. Unlike general anxiety disorders, a phobia is usually connected to something specific.
Hypnotherapy is recognised as a fast form of therapy to relieve this phobia fear. Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy used to create a subconscious change in the form of new responses, thoughts, attitudes, behaviours or feelings.
An estimated 8.7% or 19.2 million people in America, suffer from a specific phobia. Some people suffer from more than one specific phobia. You are not alone, you are not weird, this problem affects many; now you can decide if you want to get rid of this phobia or have it remain.
Phobic symptoms can occur through exposure to the feared object or situation, or sometimes merely through thinking about the feared object.
Typical symptoms associated with phobias include:
• Dizziness, trembling and increased heart rate
• Sweating
• Rapid heart beat
• An overwhelming feeling of threat
• Preoccupation with the feared object
Most phobia sufferers know their fear is ‘unreasonable’, but they believe they can’t control it. When this fear starts to dictate what you can do or not do, where you can go or not go thereby affecting your life, this is when it moves into a Phobia state.
From years of experience assisting people to overcome their phobias, I can safely say they usually begin as a younger person. It may be you had a spider in your bed when you climbed in one night, that freaked you out and this fear commenced. Over the years anytime which you saw a spider, the fear escalated and shifted into a phobia.
I had a young woman whose brother placed some frogs into her bed one night when she was a child, and when she climbed in and they started jumping on her. This combined with their outside toilet that was often frequented by frogs, developed into a phobia of all frogs. She knew a small frog could not hurt her, but she was frenzied even thinking about frogs.
We have the same regarding phobias of the dentist, dogs, snakes, certain foods, lightening storms, heights, and the list continues. The fact is, there was a time when very young this fear was not an issue. We are not born with fears. We learn our fears and usually from an event when young.
Fear of the dentist is so common. Many times we are taken to the dentist when young, we are not prepared, it is uncomfortable or even painful. We therefore escalate this expectation of discomfort and pain every time we even walk in for a check-up.
Same applies for needles. When young it was necessary to have a needle. Often our parents or the nurse told us it wouldn’t hurt. They lied. It did hurt. Therefore, every time we think of a needle this fear and trepidation overcomes us. We understand logically it is a small fine point to deliver good medicine or take blood for diagnostic reasons, but we are petrified and anticipate this harsh shock of pain. Hence a phobia begins.
The only Phobia I recommend we deal with differently is Flying Phobia. This is a little more specific and can be alleviated quickly. The Fearless Flying takes care of this and has an additional track to listen to as you fly to ensure you remain comfortable, safe and relaxed.
Therapeutic Cure
During the therapy process, I ask you to remember the first time you remember experiencing an issue with the fear. You are asked to remember just prior to the confronting event and then after that event so, therefore, you never need to relive or confront that fear while it remains escalated. Once this phobia is diminished or dissolved, you can move forward feeling safe and comfortable facing these events or aspects of your life.
Hypnotherapy utilizes the subconscious part of the mind as this is considerably more accepting of beneficial suggestions. Hypnotherapy works by bypassing the critical conscious mind through relaxation techniques and speaking directly to the subconscious part of the mind in a language which it understands.
The Remove Your Phobia session will allow you to sit quietly and comfortably as you listen to my voice and are taken on a journey to relieve this issue from your life. You no longer need to suffer this anymore, and it is so easy to resolve.
